Elie and Earlsferry: the very best of the East Neuk of Fife

Elie and Earlsferry

The crowning glory of the twin villages of Elie and Earlsferry is undoubtedly the magnificent broad beach. Gently sloping and wonderfully sandy between the toes, this lovely beach is a magnet for young and old looking for the timeless delights of rock pools, building sand-castles, and safe bathing. Looking south across the Firth of Forth towards the Bass Rock and the shoreline east of Scotland's capital, the beach at Elie and Earlsferry basks in every ray of sunshine afforded to this, the sunniest region of Scotland.

But there is more to do here than paddle and sunbathe: all summer there are children's water sports for hire, and at the Elie Sports Club (tel. 01333 330508) you can book tennis courts, bowling, and golf (including tuition).

If walking is your pleasure, you must visit the nearby Chainwalk – but check up on the tides before you go! For tidal information and all things nautical see Elie & Earlsferry Sailing Club
